fMRI and vegetative state

Reading this article an interesting question came to my mind, and I'd like to share it with my MR physicist colleages who read this blog. Being known all uncertainties of fMRI regarding the technique itself (SNR, signal fluctuation, parallel acquisition artefacts, Nyquist ghost, etc...), would you turn the life support equipments off?
